And Why?
The songs were a lot more catchier.
I’m sorry but, "hey hey, you you, I don’t like your girlfriend" constantly repeated throughout a song is NOT my idea of music.
Compare that rubbish song to say ‘I’m with you’ or ‘losing grip’.
Personally, I wouldn’t be caught half-dead singing her newer songs. She’s just like every other female singer out there now.
A few years ago she was classed as unique with her own voice & style.

I really can’t give you an exact answer. i love avril lavigne for her old style and for her style now ! she changed & outgrown that style. if your a true fan ( like me ) you won’t care what style avril lavigne is .
but comeone she was very young in her "skater days" , i think she realized to need to mature & she got married. but i think shes beautful & has a great voice ! i don’t care what her next style is going to be , i really DON’T . shes who she is im fine with it =] good question!!!

I think its probs cos at the time, it felt like she was just being avril, there were no fronts, you know?
Cos she was different and original when she first hit the big time ( believe it or not…)
everyone was still recovering from britney and christina hystronics, and it was refresing to see a girl who seemed like she didnt give a eff and didnt writher around half naked.
ahhhaa as you can probs tell, i was an avril fan ( i was like 14 i think..)
im 19 now.
and i cant stand her!

I don’t particularly like either old and new, but the whole point of how she was before, was that she didn’t conform to the whole, cutesy blonde girl who loves pink, and dancing etc etc and its exactly what shes turned into, so i think people prefered her when she was a little bit more ‘original’

Because the songs on her first 2 albums were better than the ones on her 3rd album.

Her old songs had meaning to them. Regular people could relate to them. Her new album just sounds like an old briteny or christina album. you could say yeah i listen to avril lavigne. She was a tomboy Most people love tomboys and the fact that she did whatever the f*** she wanted, even if she sang bad live sometimes

well, old songs were really good – they made her famous, she had her own opinion, she was different from other singers in a way and her songs were original. And now she’s not as good because her style is not necessarily that original, but it’s not such an inspiring idea.

because he new songs are cr*p except when you’re gone.
i HATE that girlfriend song so much!!!! shes trying to be someone she’s not. she’s tried becoming more feminine and punky in a way and just ended up looking like a wannabe tart.
just opinion.
